Pendant of the Day - By Steven Rolfkroeger

"Nood" pendant by Steven Rolfkroeger

Our Pendant of the Day comes to us from Steven Rolfkroeger. Using reclaimed, left over, cast offs, recycled, salvaged, found or abandoned metals, Steven creates these one of a kind "Noods".  I love this pendant. I chose this "nood" as our pendant of the day for many reasons. First of all, I have never seen anything like it and belive me, in my business, Ive seen thousands. Secondly, it is cute, funny and different. But most of all it does its part to help the environment!

Here's a little hint; if you look closely, you can tell this Nood is a "she" and if you visit Steven's shop you'll find her girlfriends hanging around.

Just for fun:
Q. Is macaroni a noodle?
A. Yes, it is a noodle. In Italy, maccherone just means an extended, hollow, dry, eggless, machine-made pasta. For example, penne is a type of maccherone. In the US and England it refers more to the shape of the pasta; i.e. small pasta tubes.

Pendant of the Day - by Life Art Designs

Silver Dolphin Hand sculpted Pendant

Our Pendant of the day comes to us from Life Art Designs on Etsy. Handcrafted Dolphin Pendant in fine silver. This dolphin was handmade and sculpted from silver metal clay. It is pure silver and contains no other metal alloys. (No plating to wear off and no allergies to deal with). It will last a lifetime. The silver clay with comes from recycled silver. That's good for our planet.

What I liked about this pendant is the fact that, like all other pendants featured on this blog, it is not produced in a factory by a machine, instead it is carefully sculpted by an artist's hands. This gives it so much more value and makes it that much more special. It really is very lovely; it brings to mind a dolphin riding a large wave.

Dolphins are marine mammals that are closely related to whales and porpoises. There are almost forty species of dolphin in seventeen genera. They are found worldwide, mostly in the shallower seas of the continental shelves, and are carnivores, mostly eating fish and squid. Dolphins are among the most intelligent animals, and their often friendly appearance and seemingly playful attitude have made them popular in human culture.

Pendant of the Day - By Snoozes

"Fawn" by Snoozes on Etsy

Our Pendan of the day comes to us from Snoozes. Finding a safe place to sleep the fawn lays down and takes a nap. The fawn is sculpted out of terra cotta clay, fired and then hand glazed for detail and fired again.
He's around 1 inch.

I love this piece. It is both cute and striking at the same time. It gives me an instant peaceful and calm feeling. You'll find lots of other sleepy critters in Snoozes shop. This one caught me eye because it reminds me of a tranquil sleeping child.

Deer sleep in beds of vegetation that they press down with their bodies they don't like to be seen so they make their beds in deep cover and as many a hunter can tell you they will stay in their beds even when approched by a predator or a human they lie really still and will only bolt at the last moment scaring a suprised hunter.

Deer are most active at night. Deer find security at night, when most predators, including humans, are asleep. The deer's cautious nature is apparent when considering deer never sleep in the same bed twice, deterring predators from catching a deer's scent and awaiting for the deer the next night. Deer do not sleep for long periods of time. Rather, they are always alert of their surroundings. ~ JustNorth.com

Pendant of the Day - by Wonderland Contraband

Wonder Woman, Amazon warrior princess

Our pendant of the day comes to us from Wonderland Contraband. Their little Wonder woman is a delicately sculpted and carefully painted into a super cute charm! She has her trademark blue, red and gold outfit, black hair and blue eyes. Charm sizes vary between 2.5 to 3.5 centimeters.

Wonderland Contraband's shop carries many, many more characters but this was our favorite!

Wonder Woman is a DC Comics superheroine created by William Moulton Marston. She first appeared in All Star Comics #8 (December 1941). The Wonder Woman title has been published by DC Comics almost continuously except for a brief hiatus in 1986.

Wonder Woman is an Amazon (based on the Amazons of Greek mythology) and was created by Marston, an American, as a "distinctly feminist role model whose mission was to bring the Amazon ideals of love, peace, and sexual equality to a world torn by the hatred of men." Her powers include superhuman strength, flight, super-speed, super-stamina, and super-agility. She is highly proficient in hand-to-hand combat and in the art of tactical warfare. She also possesses an animal-like cunning and a natural rapport with animals, which has in the past been presented as an actual ability to communicate with the animal kingdom. She uses her Lasso of Truth, which forces those bound by it to tell the truth, a pair of indestructible bracelets, a tiara which serves as a projectile, and an invisible airplane. ~From Wikipedia!
